Martin Doubek will make his US oval debut in New Smyrna – The Czech will race for Mike Skinner in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing
Loris Hezemans impressed in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida with a third place in the 2019 overall standings. In 2020, his team mate Martin Doubek will make his US debut on the half-mile short track and race for Mike Skinner as well.
Skinner won the NASCAR Truck Series title in 1995 and is a real oval racing legend. He will give Doubek a car that he will race in the Pro Late Model division. Doubek’s goal is to improve his oval racing skills and to shine during the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) race at Raceway Venray on July 12-13 with his new experience in his pockets.
“Oval racing is a complete different style of racing compared to road course racing. From the outside it looks way easier than it really is,” said Doubek. “I will go to America to learn more techniques and improve my oval racing skills. My team and me are planning to the best possible results.”
“Of course I want to learn how to set up a car for the oval and learn from the local heros that are specialized on ovals. I have no real expectations. My goal is simply to improve my lap times and my consistency. The higher aim is to be prepared for the NWES oval series round. I really want to win the race at Raceway Venray.”
Despite his 25 years of age, Doubek is a real NWES veteran with 30 EuroNASCAR PRO and 36 EuroNASCAR 2 races under his belt. His best result was a eighth place in the 2019 EN2 season with Hendriks Motorsport. In Venray he scored two career best ninth places in 2016. The 2020 NWES season will kick off on April 25-26 in Valencia, Spain.
