Vladimiros Tziortzis is aiming to be a title contender in the 2021 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) – He joins the new team Academy Motorsport

The young Cypriot Vladimiros Tziortzis has resigned to drive the #1 Ford Mustang in EuroNASCAR 2 in the upcoming season. His team, Alex Caffi Motorsports, is set to benefit from a newly formed partnership with 2020 Club Challenge runner-up Federico Monti. In 2021, the Italian squad will now compete as Academy Motorsport. The mutually declared goal is to win the EuroNASCAR 2 championship.

The 23-year-old impressed with a great deal of consistency during his rookie campaign in 2020. Finishing fourth in the overall standings, the Nicosia native snatched four top-5 and 8 top-10 finishes out of 10 starts. A remarkable result for Tziortzis, who prior to the 2020 season, had raced in Formula 3 and Formula 4. According to him, moving from single seaters into the V8 machinery in the NWES, he had to adapt his driving style a lot. However, he immediately fell in love with the experience of pure racing.

The sophomore season of the first ever Cypriot EuroNASCAR racer now looks set for further success: “Massive thanks to Team FJ, Alex Caffi Motorsports and Academy Motorsport for giving me the opportunity to extend our collaboration for 2021,” Tziortzis reported to ‘EuroNASCAR.com’. “I’m really looking forward to being back on the track with the V8 Ford Mustang, and the aim for this year as a driver and the goal of the team is only one, the title in EuroNASCAR 2 and – why not – in EuroNASCAR PRO!”

Team owner and former Formula 1 driver Alex Caffi is happy with his driver’s qualities on- and off-track: “We are really happy about Vladimiros’ return. He proved to be not only a strong driver, but also a very fine young man. He has important personal qualities and as a driver he has what it takes to be successful in EuroNASCAR.”

It has not been confirmed as of now who is going to partner Tziortzis driving the #1 Mustang in the PRO championship. The new NWES season is set to kick off at Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Spain) on April 17-18.
