Tobias Dauenhauer celebrates ENES title win at virtual Zolder

Tobias Dauenhauer won the ENES title last Tuesday at the virtual Circuit Zolder – The German beat Guillaume Deflandre in the race
Tobias Dauenhauer has been crowned EuroNASCAR Esports Series (ENES) champion with a fantastic performance at Circuit Zolder after an exciting 2021 season. The German won the final and gained a four-point gap over second-placed Guillaume Deflandre. With the championship title, Dauenhauer also earned 40 additional team points for Hendriks Motorsports in the real-world EuroNASCAR team championship.
Dauenhauer, who was already successful at the virtual Circuit Zolder last season, started the final race six points behind Deflandre. The latter even snatched the pole position in qualifying just ahead of Dauenhauer.
Although Deflandre had to relinquish the lead in the starting phase, the Speedhouse driver still took a dominant victory in his heat, winning the 10-minute race by six seconds ahead of Philipp Bereswill and Davide Dallara.
In the final main race, things got exciting. Deflandre and Dauenhauer were often door to door in the starting phase and gave each other a great fight. The German decided this duel in his favor and quickly built up a gap to Deflandre from Belgium. The #64 tried everything to keep up with the #150, but quickly had problems with his tires and, to make matters worse, he had to fend off Simon Pilate.
Dauenhauer won the main race after 19 laps with a gap of 11.628 seconds to Deflandre, who managed to save his second place just ahead of Pilate. With his second win of the season, the German won the ENES championship with a four-point lead over Deflandre and a 35-point advantage over Pilate. The third edition of the ENES is expected in 2022.
