NWES 2020: Italian youngsters Garisto and Bacci to make their debuts

Francesco Garisto and Alessio Bacci will take on the EuroNASCAR 2 championship in 2020
This week, two 17-year-old Italian racers were confirmed to compete in the 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ (NWES) EuroNASCAR 2 championship. Francesco Garisto, who took part in the driver recruitment programme back in November, was signed by 42 Racing. Alessio Bacci steps up from driving in the NWES Club Challenge in 2019 and to race for Alex Caffi Motorsport in 2020.
Garisto is a four-time Italian karting champion and raced in Lotus Cup Italy in 2019, where he went on to win the Rookie championship. After impressing at the recruitment test, the youngster from Portoferraio is excited to make his next steps:
“For me it’s a dream come true and I’ll give my best and work hard in order to fight for top results. I’m really pumped up, motivated and looking forward to racing all around Europe in those amazing and pure American V8 beasts,” Garisto told ‘EuroNASCAR.com’ upon his signing.
Alessio Bacci wants to prove his grounds in 2020

Bacci made his full-time debut in EuroNASCAR environment in 2019, when he competed in the regularity based Club Challenge and finished fourth in the overall standings. Thus, having taken a NASCAR to the track in Valencia, Hockenheim and Zolder already, the Italian wants to make good use of his knowledge in 2020:
“My goal is to learn all about this incredible car and to handle the tight competition in a door-to-door race.” Bacci expressed. “I want to improve my skills race by race. I know it’s going to be a tough challenge but I am totally motivated to get the best out of myself.”
Regarding the biggest change to last year, the determined youngster stated: “In the Club Challenge it was the driver against the time but in EuroNASCAR 2 it will be driver against driver. Making this shift will be the toughest challenge for me. I’m ready to soak in the adrenaline-filled pure racing experience.”
Due to the postponement of the original season opening rounds in Valencia, both Garisto and Bacci will have to wait for the new season opening at Brands Hatch on June 6-7 to make their EuroNASCAR 2 debut.
