Nicolo Rocca is set to continue with DF1 Racing to fight for the crown in EuroNASCAR PRO – Justin Kunz has also been confirmed to stay with DF1 Racing

Recently, DF1 Racing has confirmed to extend their partnership with both Nicolo Rocca and Justin Kunz. Rocca had joined the Austrian squad for the 2020 season, being one of the team’s front-runners in the fight for the EuroNASCAR PRO championship. The title ultimately didn’t go their way, yet Rocca has delivered convincing and consistent performances.

Ending the year ninth in the final standings, the experienced Italian is eager to now fight for the title in 2021. Having made his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) debut back in 2013, the 27-year-old knows how to mount a title challenge. In 2019, Rocca had already taken the title fight to the wire with eventual champion Loris Hezemans.

“I have only one way to repay their trust”

“It feels very good to be confirmed on the #22 for 2021, it’s going to be a great season!”, Rocca said. “I am confident that thanks to the hard work of DF1 Racing I will have the right equipment to be out front every race. The DF1 management is putting a lot of trust in me and I have only one way to repay them for their trust! Can’t wait for the fight to begin.”

Norbert Walchhofer, Head of Motorsport at DF1 Racing, is equally pleased with the renewed deal: “We are extremely happy that Nicolo will stay with us for the upcoming season. He is our spearhead for the title in the EuroNASCAR Pro and we are confident that we will be successful together.”

Meanwhile, Justin Kunz has also agreed to extend his contract with the Austrian team, driving the #99 Camaro. The German, who finished the 2020 season one place behind teammate Rocca in tenth, will go into his third year with the team.

The 23-year-old comes off his strongest season in the PRO championship, raising his expectations for the upcoming season: “I’m really happy that we extended my contract. I feel at home in the team and last year we made some progress as a team and as a driver. We want to continue where the last season ended and now we can concentrate on that”, Kunz reported.

“This is my third year with DF1 Racing. Everyone knows that joining a new team means that first you have to get to know each other, learn how people work, build up friendships and so on. Now everybody knows each other, how everyone works, how to treat each other. I’m sure that this season will be really good. Our goal is the Junior Trophy and we want to further improve. I’m in the right team for that. I’m really looking forward to the new season and I’m highly motivated.”

Both drivers will be eager to open up their tally with strong results at the season opener in Valencia (Spain) on May 15-16.
