Reimon Bos won all three races of the National Hotrods at the Circuit de Polderputten in Ter Apel – The Dutchman had a perfect start to the track championship

The track championship of the National Hotrods at the Circuit de Polderputten in Ter Apel, the Netherlands, has begun: Reimon Bos won all three races in his Opel Tigra at the opening round and set a clear signal. However, there were no points for the Dutch Championship and the NHRRG Cup.

“First of all, I have to say that there were a lot of spectators in Ter Apel, which is really great because we had all the restrictions in the past years,” says Bos in an exclusive interview with ‘Leadlap.net’. “I had the feeling that everyone was very happy to be back.” He also praised the duels in the various classes, in which there were in some classes more or fewer participants. Overall, Bos enjoyed the season opener very much.

Of course, because Bos already made it clear in the first race who would be the top driver in Ter Apel. In his #33 car, he won the first race ahead by 0.917 seconds from Johan Sanders and Arno Gons. Delia Horstkamp was fourth, while Mark Teuben, Merlin Beganovic and Jost Bartinger had to retire. So in total there were seven cars on the grid.

“We completely rebuilt the car over the winter and made some small changes here and there,” Bos reports. “We were testing in Ter Apel a week before the opener and tried a few setups. The car felt very good and we were ultimately very happy with the pace of it.”

Being one of the best drivers in the field, Bos had to start each race from the back of the grid and fight his way to the front, which he did with flying colors. “At the beginning I lacked grip and had to get into a rhythm first,” he says. “Then, when I had enough grip, I fought with Johan for the lead in the final laps.”

The first win was thus booked and motivation was high to confirm the momentum in the second race of the day. “I got a good start in the second race and took the lead early,” says Bos, who finished over five seconds ahead of Teuben. Sanders finished third ahead of Beganovic, while Horstkamp rounded out the top five ahead of Gons.

“In the final, Mark and Johan were battling in front of me and I was looking for an opportunity to pass both of them,” Bos says of the final Hotrods race of the day. “Johan then got behind Mark and I passed them both on the outside.” Bos also won the third race ahead of Sanders, Teuben, Beganovic, Horstkamp and Gons. This was “a perfect start to the season” for Bos and his team around the #33 Opel Tigra.

The National Hotrods will start the next track championship on April 10 at the JaBa Circuit Posterholt. The first race day of the two cross-track championships – the Dutch Championship and the NHRRG Cup – will kick off at Ter Apel on April 17, 2022. Just one day later, on Easter Monday, the series will visit Raceway Venray.
