MK1-Race Art Technology announce Cappelli and De Matteo for 2022

Claudio Remigio Cappelli and Alfredo De Matteo have been announced by MK1-Race Art Technology to race the #16 Shadow DNM8 in EuroNASCAR 2022
The freshly rebranded MK1-Race Art Technology team, formerly known as 42 Racing, has announced the signing of Claudio Remigio Cappelli and Alfredo De Matteo. Both drivers are to enter their first respective full season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES), while both have already had their first taste of EuroNASCAR.
Cappelli, who will now enter the EuroNASCAR PRO division, has had a guest start back at the 2019 Franciacorta event. In the process, the Italian scored a EuroNASCAR 2 Legend Trophy victory.
“I love everything with a V8 and I have a strong passion for the American way of intending cars. So after having a taste of NASCAR in 2019, it’s time to compete full-time. I love the EuroNASCAR car and I want to thank MK1-Race art Technology for supporting me. The team is growing quickly and being part of it gives me further motivation to do well”, Cappelli said.
Vallelunga 2021 debutant De Matteo set to prove his ground
De Matteo on the other hand will take on this year’s EuroNASCAR 2 championship. The 28-year-old Italian has made a brief but impressive appearance at the 2021 finals at Vallelunga. Despite initial troubles in qualifying, he charged up the field to finish both races in eighth place, scoring one Rookie Trophy podium.
“I found a very good feeling with the car and the team in the two tests we did. I still have to adapt to this type of car, but it’s very funny. We’ll have to see where we stand on race day. When you test you have some benchmarks but it’s the race that really tells you where you are”, the Italian rookie stated.
Having two fresh, although to some degree already proven to be quick drivers, MK1-Race Art Technology will have a pairing to watch out for in 2022. The season is going to kick off at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia (Spain) on May 14-15.
