Yevgen Sokolovskiy will not take part in the 2022 EuroNASCAR Finals on October 29-30 – The Ukrainian will represent his country at the FIA Motorsport Games

Yevgen Sokolovskiy will miss the finale of this year’s NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season on October 29 and 30 and will instead compete at the invitation of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) at the Motorsport Games at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, which clash with the date of the EuroNASCAR Finals. He will compete together with his compatriot Ivan Peklin in an Aston Martin GT3 for Team Ukraine.

Sokolovskiy is actually in the middle of the title fight for the Challenger Trophy in the EuroNASCAR PRO classification and is battling for the Legend Trophy in the EuroNASCAR 2 ranks. Accordingly, the decision has been difficult for him, but the Ukrainian is eager to represent his country at the FIA Motorsport Games.

“Of course, I’m very very sad that I won’t be driving in the EuroNASCAR Finals,” Sokolovskiy explains. “The prospects in the Trophy classifications were good, even though we were unlucky in Zolder and dropped some points. The decision between EuroNASCAR and the FIA Motorsport Games was very difficult for me. Unfortunately, I had to make a decision and it turned out in favor of my country,” Sokolovskiy continues.

“Especially because of the difficult situation and the war in Ukraine, I had to make this decision. I have a tremendous commitment to my country. It means a lot to me to be able to represent it internationally. Although I’ve lived in Germany for many years, it’s very important to me to show this kind of solidarity and support.”

This is the first time since his EuroNASCAR debut at Vallelunga in 2020 that the Ukrainian-born driver will miss an NWES race, however, he is already looking forward to the upcoming season: “Next year I want to start the EuroNASCAR season with strong results and be back in the fight for the Trophy championships!”

Sokolovskiy receives full support for his decision from his team Marko Stipp Motorsport, which wishes him and the whole Team Ukraine all the best for the FIA Motorsport Games. Nevertheless, the #48 Chevrolet will be seen on track in Grobnik, with the driver pairing yet to be announced. The finale of this year’s EuroNASCAR season, in which double points will be awarded, will take place on October 29 and 30 at the Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia.
