The start of the 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) season is fast approaching. Before things really get down to business on May 14 and 15 in Valencia, Spain, the teams are preparing for the season. Not Only Motorsport was testing with Alina Loibnegger and Advait Deodhar at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. The two newcomers to the team have spoken exclusively to ‘Leadlap.net’ about their two days of testing.

First of all, the track, which is certainly not familiar to all motorsport fans: the Cremona Circuit is located southeast of Milan and has a total length of 3,702 meters. The start-finish straight is 353 meters long and the circuit consists of a total of 13 corners. The longest straight has a length of 900 meters, which is why high speeds are achieved.

“I am preparing for the season with Not Only Motorsport,” Loibnegger tells ‘Leadlap.net’. “For us, it’s about finding an optimal car setup for me. The team is great and I’m sure that this season I’ll be able to improve my skills and develop as a driver. We will give everything to achieve our goal of winning as many trophies as possible.”

Both drivers aim for titles

Deodhar and Loibnegger both raced in the #00 Chevrolet Camaro, which carried the #90 in the 2021 NWES season. Both the Indian and the Austrian will compete in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship in May. While Deodhar will be looking to win the overall championship title, Loibnegger will be aiming for the highly competitive Lady Trophy. The competition is strong, with Arianna Casoli and Yasmeen as well as Aliyyah Koloc confirmed.

Deodhar had actually planned to move up to EuroNASCAR PRO, however, he decided against that move because he had “unfinished business” in EuroNASCAR 2. “It went great, it was the first time for me with the team,” Deodhar tells ‘Leadlap.net’. “The team gave me a warm welcome and the car ran well. The mechanics and engineers spread so much passion and the team is hungry for wins.”

Will the success story continue?

For Deodhar, it was important to get a feel for the new car and find his way around the new team. The Indian, who scored his first race win at Brands Hatch in 2021, then with CAAL Racing, used the test day to do just that. “I am very happy with my decision to drive for Not Only Motorsport this year,” he says. “If we work hard, we can put together a good package. It was a very good two days of testing.”

Not Only Motorsport entered the EuroNASCAR world in 2020 and immediately attracted attention with good results: Davide Dallara won the Challenger Trophy in his very first year, which he hopes to bring back to Italy in the 2022 season. A year later, the racing team won the Rookie Trophy with Alberto Panebianco. Naveh Talor, who now joined DF1 Racing, secured the team’s first EuroNASCAR 2 victory in the 2021 season at Zolder in Belgium.
