Lanza ready for 2021 NWES: “I’m ready to constantly finish in the top-5”
Max Lanza

Max Lanza will compete again for CAAL Racing in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship in 2021 – His hand injury is almost healed, which is why the Italian wants to attack at the front

The 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) ended for Max Lanza already in qualifying at Grobnik in Croatia, as the Italian injured his hand in an accident. Since then, Lanza has given everything to get fit again. Now he has announced his return to the EuroNASCAR 2 championship with CAAL Racing, where he will once again drive the #88 Camaro.

“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel! I really miss the adrenaline rush of a racing weekend”, said Lanza. “I’m more mature as a driver and I feel ready, the goal is to fight for the win in the Legend Trophy, which I think will be very competitive this year, but not just that: I want to have a say in the general classification. I think I’m ready to constantly finish in the top-5 and maybe, why not, on the podium. It’s not that far away.”

His hand injury may still play a role at the start of the season on May 15-16 in Valencia, Spain, because Lanza is not yet pain-free: “The hand still hurts sometimes but I almost regained full movement. I’m training hard, I don’t want to leave anything on the table. I know I did everything well and I can’t wait to prove it.”

Lanza will compete with CAAL Racing in the Legend Trophy for EuroNASCAR 2 drivers over the age of 40. He doesn’t want to lose sight of the overall standings and the championship battle. After all, Lanza has scored two top-10 results in four races in 2020 and showed some good potential.

Team boss Luca Canneori is delighted about the Italian’s return: “We are very happy to announce our first driver for the 2021 season. We’ll try to put Max in the best possible position to battle for the top spots in EuroNASCAR 2, redeem last season’s campaign that ended with an injury in Croatia”
