Hendriks Motorsport from the Netherlands will enter a third car in the 2020 season – Its drivers are Giorgio Maggi and Vittorio Ghirelli

In 2019, Giorgio Maggi and Vittorio Ghirelli were fierce rivals in the battle for the EuroNASCAR 2 crown. Next season, the two will fight together for the title in the team championship at Hendriks Motorsport. While Maggi will drive the #18 Ford Mustang in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship, Ghirelli is aiming for the EuroNASCAR 2 title.

Maggi has convinced with strong performances in 2019. The Swiss won three races, took four pole positions and has been on the podium eight times. He only lost the title in the last race of the season against Lasse Soerensen, who ultimately had a nine point lead over Maggi. With Hendriks Motorsport, Maggi now wants to take the next step and take on the European NASCAR elite.

“I am very excited to put myself to test at the highest Level of NASCAR in Europe. It will be a tough challenge, I proved I can put down lap times worth of the EuroNASCAR PRO but being fast is just a small part of racing. Any Mistake will be punished much harder, so I used the off-season to go over my whole EuroNASCAR 2 campaign and analyze where I can improve myself,” said Maggi.

Ghirelli was one driver of the strong group of rookies that dominated the 2019 EuroNASCAR 2 season. The Italian had his breakthrough at Raceway Venray when he spectacularly won the 70-lap race on the short track in the Netherlands – his first race on an oval ever. He also claimed four podiums and eight top-5 results. Ghirelli will certainly be a favourite for the EuroNASCAR 2 title in 2020.

“I only have one result in my mind and that’s winning. I start to score the best possible result in each and every race and win the championship. Last year we gained precious experience and now I’m confident to be in a condition both physically and mentally and to have the potential to contend for the title,” said Ghirelli.
