The two Belgians Marc Goossens and Dylan Derdaele aim to make an impact in EuroNASCAR with the CAAL Racing #98 car

Just before the start of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) season at Vallelunga (Italy) on September 12-13, CAAL Racing announced the entry of another car sporting the number 98. The two Belgians Marc Goossens and Dylan Derdaele will share the car with Goossens competing in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship and Derdaele in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship.

Goossens, who has been without a driver’s seat for this season since Braxx Racing withdrew, now hopes to make a big impact with the established CAAL Racing team: “We ended up talking with CAAL Racing, they approached this deal from a racing standpoint and we found ourselves very much in tune. I raced against CAAL Racing many times and there’s no doubt they are ultra competitive”, said the Belgian endurance legend.

For Derdaele it will be the first full-time programme in EuroNASCAR. Consequently, the 28-year-old’s aim is to learn as much as possible from his experienced team mate and the team’s environment. “With Marc we agreed that for my first complete season in NASCAR, it would be better to gain some more valuable experience and focus on the EuroNASCAR 2 championship”, said Derdaele.

“It will definitely help me to have a deeper knowledge of the car and the series and become a winner in NWES. CAAL was very helpful in creating a situation in which we could share the car. It is going to offer us great opportunities to compete at the front while giving our partner the best value both on a national and international level.”

On September 12-13, the Belgian-Italian alliance will fight for championship points together for the first time on the Autodromo Vallelunga.
