Gil Linster collected two strong top-10 results in EuroNASCAR at Autodrom Most – He also will return to the V8 Oval Series at the end of September

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) race weekend at Autodrom Most went like clockwork for Gil Linster. The Luxembourg driver finished twice in the top-10 and once in the top-5 on the fast race track in the Czech Republic, thus scoring important points for the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. On September 25, the current CAAL Racing driver will join Hendriks Motorsport for a race day in a V8 Oval Series (V8OS) race at Raceway Venray.

But first things first: in NWES qualifying at Most, Linster drove his Chevrolet Camaro to a solid sixth place. The Saturday race was dominated by plenty of cautions and chaos, but he brought home the #56 car to the finish line in seventh place. On Sunday, the Luxembourger put the foot on the throttle and sped to fourth place after a strong performance. This puts him in eighth place overall ahead of the regular season finale at Zolder.

“It was a super weekend, really cool,” Linster tells ‘Leadlap.net’. “On Saturday there was not a good race, there were too many yellows and that was not cool for the fans. On Sunday it was much better, we had really many race laps. We had a lot of battles in EuroNASCAR 2 and it was great for us drivers, but also for the fans. I’m quite happy with fourth place and the car didn’t get damaged either. Now I’m really looking forward to Zolder and Venray.”

After the regular-season finale at Circuit Zolder in Belgium on October 8-9, the NWES drivers will scratch their two worst results. Then it’s off to Grobnik, Croatia, on October 29-30 for the season finale, which will feature double points. Linster is 97 points behind championship leader Alberto Naska, but thanks to the dropped results and the double points in Croatia, he still has every chance of scoring a top-5 result in the overall standings.

But before things get down to business again for Linster in EuroNASCAR, the experienced race driver returns to the Raceway Venray oval. On September 25, the Luxembourg native will compete for Hendriks Motorsport in the V8OS and take on the 800-meter oval with a banking of up to 25 degrees. Oval racing is nothing new for Linster, who has already contested numerous NWES and V8OS races at Venray.
