Ghirelli: “Winning the title with Not Only would be twice as rewarding”

Vittorio Ghirelli aims high for the upcoming EuroNASCAR season as a newcomer to Not Only Motorsport
Vittorio Ghirelli and Not Only Motorsport recently announced they will be partnering for the 2022 EuroNASCAR PRO season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES). However, the two parties are not entirely new to each other. Having spent his EuroNASCAR career with Hendriks Motorsport, Ghirelli switched sides at short notice before the 2021 season finale and joined his compatriots from Not Only Motorsport.
Battling for the EuroNASCAR PRO title, Ghirelli put in an impressive performance at Vallelunga, but a technical problem in the final race meant that the 27-year-old lost any chance of winning the EuroNASCAR crown.
A lot of work and a new friendship
Nonetheless, an instant bond formed between Ghirelli and Not Only Motorsport: “I trusted the team last year at Vallelunga,” said last season’s overall fifth-place finisher. “The trust turned into a lot of work and a new friendship. We went so close on winning the title last year, but racing is cruel sometimes.”
Aboard the #36 car, the Italian EuroNASCAR PRO driver will do everything in his power in the new season to make up for the missed opportunity from last year. “I’m ready for this new challenge and I’m sure we can do really well preparing ourselves the best way to be 100% ready straight from the Hockenheim season opener. We can accomplish our goal which is to win the title.”
“Winning with a young team would be amazing”
Not Only Motorsport is entering in only its third year in the NWES in 2022. In Zolder, Naveh Talor took the team’ s first race win in EuroNASCAR 2 in the 2021 season, but the team still has relatively scarce experience.
For this very reason, Ghirelli emphasized that the common goals mean a lot to him: “We are putting together a solid program with a group counting on me. Winning the title would be amazing, but winning it with a young team – growing together – would be twice as rewarding.”
The season opener of the 2022 NWES season will take place on April 9 and 10 at the Hockenheimring in Germany. This will be followed by five more rounds in Spain, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Croatia. Furthermore, an all-star event is planned in Italy and a EuroNASCAR invitational race on ice.
