Francesco Garisto competed for Marko Stipp Motorsport for the first time in mid-November at the Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia – The Italian loves the new NWES track

“The track is just amazing,” Francesco Garisto told ‘Leadlap.net’. The Italian competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) 2020 for 42 Racing in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. He had to switch to Marko Stipp Motorsport for the weekend at Automotodrom Grobnik at short notice, as his 42 Racing team was not allowed to travel due to a positive coronate test among the crew members. In Croatia with the German team, Garisto immediately fell in love with the race track near Rijeka.

“It was the first time I drove there and it was so cool driving around it,” said the 18-year-old. “There are some turns with banking and it goes up and down all the time. It’s a really great track and I hope to race there again soon.” As a reminder: The Automotodrom Grobnik will be visited in the 2021 NWES season on September 18-19.

The race weekend in Croatia was satisfying for Garisto overall: The Italian crossed the finish line inside the top 10 twice and collected important points for the championship and Rookie Trophy. On Sunday he finished fourth, but was downgraded to eighth place due to a penalty. The reason for this was that he didn’t respect the track limits during an overtaking attempt.

In the latest YouTube video Garisto goes into more detail about his race weekend in Grobnik. His statements are available in the English, a German translation and summary is also available.
