Fourth NWES title in sight: Alon Day returns to PK Carsport

Alon Day will be back in the title hunt for PK Carsport in the 2022 EuroNASCAR season – Israeli returns to top Belgian team
PK Carsport is returning to the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) in 2022 and has brought Alon Day back to the team. The Israeli will once again drive the #24 Chevrolet Camaro and hunt his fourth title. Day won the 2020 NWES championship with the racing team around Anthony Kumpen, drawing level with Ander Vilarino in the historical standings.
PK Carsport skipped the 2021 NWES season due to other racing programs and only competed in its home race at Circuit Zolder, where Stienes Longin took a win for the team. Day therefore returned to CAAL Racing, but lost out in the title fight to Loris Hezemans. The 30-year-old, who won two titles with the Italians, will spearhead the top team from Belgium when PK Carsport returns.
Day happy to be back with PK Carsport
“I am super happy to be back again in the NWES with PK Carsport, a team that I won a championship with in our debut season together. I want to thank Anthony Kumpen for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to prove again what I’m capable of doing. I will give everything I need to in order to put PK Carsport at the top of the standings like we did in the 2020 season,” said Day.

Day is the winningest driver in NWES history with 27 first-place finishes and is eager to take sole possession of the top spot among champions with a fourth EuroNASCAR PRO title – he currently shares the top spot with Vilarino. In 2020, Day dominantly won his third title with PK Carsport and even moved to Belgium for the entire year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was a special experience for the Israeli.
Kumpen expects strong results
“We surely have a strong car to fight for the championship win,” said Kumpen. “With Alon in our team, we belong to the favorites to win the title and we came back full-time to deliver! We are happy to be back in the series.”
Day has continued to race for PK Carsport in 2021 despite his full-time NWES program with CAAL Racing, maintaining his relationship with the team. PK Carsport is aiming for the title and according to Kumpen, the racing team is “super excited” to be back as a full-time team in the EuroNASCAR championship.
