The start of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) season on May 6 and 7 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo is drawing closer. The brand-new Eurolegend Cup, which will be held over five weekends as part of EuroNASCAR, will also be part of the event.

A very special prize awaits the winner of the 2023 Eurolegend Cup: the entry fee for the 2024 EuroNASCAR season, giving interested drivers another chance to get to know the NWES environment and enter the series, in addition to the recruiting program.

“We are very excited to welcome the Eurolegend Cup to the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series lineup,” said NWES President and CEO Jerome Galpin. “This is another great addition to our events, which are all set up like great American festivals and attract thousands of motorsports fans to the track! We’re proud to continue to grow one of the best racing shows in Europe.”

Legends Cars Italia was already a guest at Vallelunga last year as part of the EuroNASCAR event and there are always spectacles in the supporting program at Brands Hatch with the UK Legends Cars.

“The Eurolegend Cup originated in Italy and we are now entering the international racing stage for the first time by joining the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series at selected events,” explained Eurolegend promoter Romano Pisi.

In addition to the season opener in Spain, the new series will make guest appearances at Vallelunga (July 8 and 9), Most (August 26 and 27) and Oschersleben (September 23 and 24). The grand finale will be held at the Zolder circuit on October 14 and 15. Fans can expect three 20-minute sprint races and a qualifying session each weekend.

The points system of the Eurolegend Cup is the same as that of EuroNASCAR. The winner receives 40 points. The driver with the most positions won will receive four bonus points. In addition, the field is divided into three categories for different types of drivers, depending on their age: Challenge for 16- to 21-year-olds, Top Class for 21- to 45-year-olds and Star for drivers aged 45 and over.

The cars entered come directly from the USA and are brought to Europe by the US Legends Cars organization. They are around 3.2 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 1.2 meters high. Propulsion is provided by a three- or four-cylinder engine with around 140 horsepower. Visually, the vehicles are modeled on the US cars of the 1930s with a scale of 5/8 and thus fit perfectly into the NWES supporting program.
