EuroNASCAR 2022: Nicolo Rocca and DF1 Racing declare title ambitions
Nicolo Rocca and DF1 Racing extend their contract to fight for the EuroNASCAR crown – The Italian will drive the #22 Chevrolet Camaro
After agreeing to continue their relationship, which started in the 2020, Nicolo Rocca and DF1 Racing have one big common goal: finally winning the EuroNASCAR PRO championship together! After being title contenders throughout both 2020 and 2021 and eventually missing out, the 2022 season is considered to finally be their year.
“I’m very happy to continue with DF1 Racing”, Rocca stated. “I’m thankful for the trust Norbert Walchhofer (DF1 Racing Head of Motorsport) and Gudrun Strouhal (DF1 Racing Team Owner) are putting into me and my skills. I hope I can repay that trust with a title.”
“Our ambitions are higher than to finish in the top 5”
Finishing the 2021 season fourth overall and scoring six top 5 results in the process, the 28-year-old Italian feels he is ready for more: “Last year was a good one, but our ambitions are higher than to finish in the top 5. We want to be racing for the win each weekend and fight for the championship!”
According to Walchhofer, Rocca has the right mindset to be a top contender. “Nicolo has the healthy egoism of a PRO driver, but he also is a teamplayer, who helps his young teammates to be successful as well. We are convinced that Nicolo can fight for the title in EuroNASCAR PRO.”
The iconic Hockenheimring (Germany) will pave the way for the 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, kicking off on April 9-10.
