Ercoli stays with CAAL Racing: Next goal is the EuroNASCAR title

Gianmarco Ercoli will continue to compete for the Italian team CAAL Racing in the 2021 NWES season in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship – The Italians want to win the title
“Our goal is to fight for the EuroNASCAR title in 2021,” CAAL Racing team manager Luca Canneori said confidently ahead of the start of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series next month in Valencia, Spain. Gianmarco Ercoli plays an important role on this journey, as the Italian has extended his contract with the top team. The 2015 EuroNASCAR 2 champion will again drive the #54 Chevrolet Camaro.
Last year, Ercoli scored his second career EuroNASCAR PRO win with CAAL Racing at his home track in Vallelunga, Italy. The 25-year-old was quickly considered a title contender, but ultimately only finished sixth overall due to a lot of bad luck. In Grobnik, for example, he had to change cars – even teams – because his teammate Arianna Casoli was involved in a heavy accident in qualifying that destroyed the car.
In addition to his victory, Ercoli scored seven top-5 and eight top-10 results in ten races in 2020 with the top EuroNASCAR team, that won two drivers’ titles with Alon Day. In 2021, the Rome native’s goal is to establish himself at the top of European NASCAR.

“I am very happy to announce my deal with CAAL Racing for the 2021 EuroNASCAR Championship. It’s my second consecutive year with the team and our aim is to improve,” said Ercoli. “After the Final in Valencia we immediately worked hard with the whole team to improve our pace. Our goal is to do better than last season. We had our ups and downs but we proved to be very fast.”
The first race weekend of the new season will take place on May 15-16 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. So far, CAAL Racing has confirmed compatriot Max Lanza for the EuroNASCAR 2 championship alongside Ercoli. The racing team plans to field a total of three cars in 2021. Further drivers are to be announced soon.
