Austrian Formula 4 champion Patrick Schober will debut in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series with Double V Racing in 2022

Double V Racing and Patrick Schober recently announced their collaboration for the 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) season. The only 17-year-old Schober will be driving the team’s #27 Mustang in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. Having won the Austrian Formula 4 title last year, the teenager will enter the NWES with momentum.

Despite making the switch from a Formula 4 single seater to a 5.7 litre V8 NASCAR machine, the Austrian has his goals firmly set: “I can’t wait to race with Double V Racing. I know there will be plenty of good and experienced drivers in the championship, but I’m here to win. My goal will also be the Rookie title and I’ll do my best to achieve it”, Schober said.

Independent team operations in 2022

Double V Racing may only enter its second season in EuroNASCAR, however the team wants to keep building on its strong 2021 form when they scored seven top 10 finishes. After having a technical partnership with Solaris Motorsport over the previous season, Double V Racing will now operate independently.

“We will finally be a totally independent team, with a unique approach to the series and a lot of will to improve”, team Manager Francesco Vignali comments. “We’ll give Patrick all the support we can to always put him in the condition to get the best from himself and our #27 Mustang.”

On May 14-15, the team and its new driver will start the new season at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia (Spain).
