DF1 Racing from Austria has signed a new driver – The Dane Andreas Jochimsen will start in the EuroNASCAR-2 championship
In 2019, DF1 Racing from Austria with Lasse Soerensen from Denmark celebrated a success story in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) when the team and their bearish talent won the EuroNASCAR 2 Championship (EN2). In 2020, the team will once again rely on a Dane: Andreas Jochimsen.
The 22-year-old has caused quite a stir in his home country. In two years he has taken two pole positions in the Danish Thundersport Championship. In 2019 he won the amateur classification in the Danish Super GT on a Mercedes. Now Jochimsen is ready for his first steps in international motorsport.
“Actually, this opportunity came up a bit unexpected not that long ago,” said the new DF1 Racing tiger. “I got in contact with Norbert Walchhofer from DF1 Racing and we decided to have a meeting. After the meeting, I was pretty sure that EuroNASCAR is a good way for me to get into the international racing scene, especially with a team such as DF1 Racing.”
“I think this championship can provide me with a lot of good experiences that will for sure help me develop my racing career. I’m really happy to get a chance to prove myself in EuroNASCAR and I thank DF1 Racing for this great opportunity”, said Jochimsen.
“I am pleased to welcome a young, fast driver to our team”, said DF1 Racing motorsport boss Norbert Walchhofer. “Andreas convinced with his driving skills. His development in 2019 was so positive that now is the right time to enter an international series. At our first personal meeting a few weeks ago in our workshop, we were also impressed by his very professional approach to motorsport.”
Jochimsen will have his first race on April 25-26 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. DF1 Racing hopes that the Dane will be just as successful in the EN2 championship as Soerensen was in the 2019 season.
