DF1 Racing signs Andre Castro as team mate of Ander Vilarino

After his part-time program in 2019, Andre Castro will start as a full-time driver in the 2020 NWES season – The US American joins DF1 Racing
Ander Vilarino’s teammate has been found: Andre Castro joins DF1 Racing and will drive the #22 car in the 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) competing in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. The US American has already signed the contract and is highly motivated for his first full-time season in EuroNASCAR.
In 2019, Castro started for PK Carsport and Marko Stipp Motorsport. Unforgotten was his first race in Valencia, which he led up to the last corner. Only a contact with Myatt Snider prevented his first victory. Afterwards, the 21-year-old scored four podiums and one pole position in eleven races. In 2020, Castro plans to fight for the title in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship.
“I’m thrilled to mount an assault for the EN2 title with DF1 Racing,” said Castro. “I will give everything to defend the title for DF1 Racing. I’m looking forward to rewarding the trust that Gudrun Strouhal and Norbert Walchhofer have in me. It’s an honour to work with NWES veterans like Ander Vilarino and Mike Law and I expect to learn a lot from them throughout the course of the season.”
DF1 Head of Motorsport Norbert Walchhofer is happy about signing with Castro: “Andre has set himself a clear goal for the 2020 season: he wants to become the European NASCAR Champion when he flies back to his home country USA after the finale.”
“This fits perfectly with the ambitions we have at DF1 Racing and I’ve always hoped that Andre would get in touch with our team, which in the end he did, fortunately. His talent perfectly completes the driver duo for the #22 car, which will be driven by Ander Vilarino in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship.”
