Champion Alon Day returns to CAAL Racing for 2021 NWES season

Alon Day will return to race for CAAL Racing in the 2021 NWES season in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship – The Israeli will share the cockpit with Max Lanza
After just one year with PK Carsport, Alon Day is returning to CAAL Racing. The Israeli will contest the 2021 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) together with the Italians in an attempt to claim his fourth title. The current champion will share the #88 car with Max Lanza, who will compete in the EuroNASCAR 2 division.
This adds weight to the rumor that PK Carsport will not field a full-time car in EuroNASCAR in 2021. Day has spent five years with CAAL Racing in his career, winning two drivers’ titles with 20 race victories. He scored four more wins with PK Carsport, which was good enough for the championship win in 2020. With his 24 race wins under his belt, Day is the most successful driver in NWES history.
Should the race driver from Ashdod manage to defend his title, he would also be the sole leader in the history list of EuroNASCAR champions. He currently shares first place with Ander Vilarino. His old CAAL Racing car will be driven by Gianmarco Ercoli, who will be chasing points for the first time with Day as his teammate. Like Day, the young Italian is one of the title contenders in the 2021 season.
Day set to cooperate with Ercoli
“I’m very happy to go back to CAAL Racing. It’s my home team and I’m very excited to be back with them after one year. We won 20 races together and I’m sure the relationship between us is so good that we can chase this title together after we took a break,” said Day.
He also mentioned his former team: “I’m very thankful for PK Carsport and what Anthony Kumpen and his team did for me in 2020. They will always be in my heart, I went through a hell of a year and I’m just so thankful. I hope we’ll work again together in the future.”
In the garage, the 29-year-old expects to work closely with Ercoli’s team despite the rivalry: “It will definitely be even harder to stay on top this year. I have a very strong teammate and competitor in Gianmarco Ercoli and we both want to win. I am sure we will work together to take CAAL Racing to the top,” added Day.
