Advait Deodhar will race again in the NWES after his forced break in 2020 – The Indian has signed a contract with CAAL Racing for the full EuroNASCAR 2 season

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) is once again getting growth from India: Advait Deodhar has signed a full-time contract with CAAL Racing from Italy for the 2021 EuroNASCAR 2 season. The 31-year-old is aiming for his first race win and the title in the championship dedicated to young talent and gentleman drivers.

After gaining experience in the Club Challenge, Deodhar drove his first EuroNASCAR 2 race in 2018. At the time, he competed for DF1 Racing. The Indian started the 2019 season in the Austrian’s car, but then switched first to Speedhouse64 and then to CAAL Racing to compete in a total of eight races with the Italians. He had originally planned to compete in the NWES in 2020 as well, but that plan was thwarted by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Deodhar looking forward to his comeback

“I’m looking forward to getting back into EuroNASCAR in 2021”, said Deodhar. “I was hoping to come back in 2020 but due to the situation it was not possible, but now I’m finally on the grid again. I’m here to fight for the championship in the EuroNASCAR 2 but I know there are a lot of fast drivers entering the series, so it’s not going to be easy. I’m delighted that I’ve signed a contract with CAAL Racing for the whole season and it’s going to be the first time for me to race in EuroNASCAR in one team full time.”

In his first race for CAAL Racing at Brands Hatch in the UK, Deodhar also secured the first and only podium of his NWES career to date. In the #31 car, the 31-year-old drove straight to second place. He wants to build on this strong foundation in 2021 as the season starts on May 15-16 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.

The Indian wants to build on the strong foundation

“I think we have a strong base but it will be a challenge to jump back into the right without any testing. I know the track in Valencia, I raced there twice so I’m really looking forward to the season opener in May. I will give my best to fight for the championship.”

So far, CAAL Racing has confirmed Alon Day and Gianmarco Ercoli for the EuroNASCAR PRO championship. Max Lanza will compete for the Italians alongside Deodhar in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship. The team plans to field three cars on the grid, which is why two cockpits are still available – one in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship and one in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship.
