2021 ENES: Narrow victory for Tobias Dauenhauer at Brands Hatch

Tobias Dauenhauer has won the second round of the 2021 ENES season at the virtual Indy circuit in Brands Hatch
Tobias Dauenhauer and his team Hendriks Motorsport won the exciting second round of the EuroNASCAR Esports Series (ENES) at virtual Brands Hatch on the shortened Indy layout. Daytona winner Guillaume Deflandre was beaten by 3.8 seconds. Dauenhauer recorded his second ENES victory, after having already been victorious in last year’s season finale at Zolder.
Dauenhauer led all race laps in the first heat race from pole position and finished ahead of DF1 Racing’s Simon Pilate. Third place was snatched by Ulysse Delsaux, with Paul Jouffreau and Leonardo Colavita finishing fourth and fifth behind him.
Deflandre dominated the second heat race and, like Dauenhauer, led all laps. He had a whopping 12.8-second advantage over second-place Justin Kunz. Stefano Guastaveglie surprisingly finished third, followed by Alain Mosqueron and Santtu Vuoksenturja.
After two exciting heats, the 30-minute main race was next to come, for which 33 drivers qualified. The two favorites, Dauenhauer and Deflandre, engaged in a close duel for the lead for several laps. A collision with a lapped car initially threw both back into the midfield, with Vladimiros Tziortzis taking over the lead.
Both Dauenhauer and Deflandre made the comeback and again promoted themselves to the top positions. After 38 laps of racing, Dauenhauer decided the race in his favor by 3.8 seconds over Deflrandre. Third was Guastaveglie, celebrating his first ENES podium. Colavita, followed by Giorgio Maggi, completed the top-5.
Although Tzioztis led the race for eleven laps, he finished just behind the top 5 in sixth place. Representing the Autodrom Most was Jakub Krafek. He reached the 16th place, while Michael Niemas finished in 19th place and thus snatched a top 20 result for the team around the American Fan Fest at the Hockenheimring. Leadlap.de boss André Wiegold finished the race in 26th place.
Deflandre leads the championship after the second round of the ENES at Brands Hatch with a two-point advantage over Dauenhauer, who has 73 points on his account. Delsaux is third, followed by Tziortzis and Pilate, who both collected 59 points so far. The third round of the 2021 ENES season will be held on March 9 at virtual Watkins Glen.
