2020 NWES season: Marko Stipp Motorsport signs with Yevgen Sokolovskiy

This year’s NWES recruitment programme driver will compete in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship for Marko Stipp Motorsport
The Ukrainian Yevgen Sokolovskiy is the first piece of the puzzle in Marko Stipp Motorsport’s line-up in 2020. The 41-year-old, who will make his debut in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES), will step into the lion’s den right away. Entering the EuroNASCAR PRO championship, he will face off with Europe’s finest NASCAR drivers. Furthermore, Sokolovskiy is set to attack in the Challenger Trophy.
“Basically, I’m entering the new season with a very good feeling,” the new Marko Stipp Motorsport driver stated. “Of course it is my first year in a new series. Nevertheless, I think that I can already score good results this season. But at the same time I see it as a kind of preparation for my second season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. I think the fact that I know some of the tracks from my time in motorbike racing will be an advantage for me.”
Team boss Marko Stipp is also looking forward to the collaboration: “With Yevgen we have found an experienced, performance-oriented and reliable driver for the 2020 NWES season. He has everything it takes to be successful in the series. He will certainly stir up the field in the Challenger Trophy and we hope that he will be on the podium a lot of times. The first year is of course a learning year, but due to his experience the learning curve will be steep, I’m sure. I am looking forward to welcoming Yevgen to our team.”

Sokolovskiy comes with a lot of racing experience
Since 2003 the Ukrainian, whose roots lie in motorbike racing, has been competing in professional motorsports. The Odessa-native achieved national success, leading him up to the International German Motorbike championship. However, a bad accident by the end of 2011 lead to Sokolovskiy taking a hiatus from motorsports.
In 2018 he made the switch to automobile racing and celebrated his comeback, driving in the V8 Oval Series (V8OS) at Raceway Venray. After regular starts in the V8OS, Sokolovskiy now feels well prepared for the next step: “I drove at Raceway Venray in a Late Model in 2018 and 2019, I understand cars with these concepts very well and think that I can transfer this knowledge to EuroNASCAR.”
Start of the new NWES season postponed
Marko Stipp Motorsport’s latest driver now yearns to make his NASCAR debut. Due to the current coronavirus crisis, Sokolovskiy will need a bit of patience though. EuroNASCAR have officially postponed the start of the season to the British NASCAR GP, held at Brands Hatch on June 6-7.
